Police determine suspect drank hand sanitizer
An 18-year-old in Canton, Ohio, faces charges of assaulting a police officer after punching an officer in the face while being restrained, according to a report from the local Police Department.
Police received a call about a domestic disturbance on 3rd Street SW on February 16. Upon arrival, officers encountered the mother of the man involved, who was standing on the sidewalk and described an ongoing conflict between the couple inside the home.
According to the report, Jade Cain and her boyfriend Alan King emerged from the house and almost immediately began arguing with family members. Police noted that Cain exhibited unusual behavior, spoke incessantly, and had uncontrollable actions. Authorities later determined she had consumed hand sanitizer.

An officer decided to place Cain in a patrol car to de-escalate the situation and continue the investigation. As she was being led away, Cain dropped to the ground. At the patrol car door, she briefly sat down before suddenly swinging her left arm and punching an officer in the face, according to footage from the officer's body camera.
Slipped handcuffs, shattered cell window
Cain was subdued and taken to Stark County Jail. There, the report states she kicked the door, repeatedly banged her head against the holding cell door, and then slipped one hand out of her handcuffs. Cain then used the handcuffs to repeatedly strike the glass window of the cell door, causing it to crack and shatter.
She was charged with assault on a peace officer and vandalism. Her next court hearing is scheduled for February 24.
