Suspect Claimed Girlfriend Slipped in Bathroom

Police arrested Brandon Grimaldo, 29, in connection with the death of his girlfriend, Crystal Marie Falcon, 23, after he initially told authorities she "slipped in the bathroom."

According to court records cited by local media, Falcon was taken to Adventist Health Bakersfield around 11 p.m. on February 7 with severe injuries. She had multiple bruises and abrasions consistent with being tied up, suspected cigarette burns, broken bones, and significant disfigurement.

Blood Found Throughout House, Victim Died After 6 Days

Investigators found blood in the bathroom, bedroom, and hallway of the southwest Bakersfield home where the victim was found unconscious. Falcon died on February 13 due to her injuries.

Additional Charges for Child Endangerment

Grimaldo was arrested a week later. Prosecutors filed charges related to domestic violence causing serious injury. Court records also include an accusation of child endangerment, as blood was found on the crib of a disabled child living in the home.

Bakersfield Police stated they are continuing the investigation and emphasized their commitment to addressing domestic violence cases. Grimaldo is expected to appear in court next month.

Falcon is survived by two young children. Her family has set up an online fundraising page to help with funeral costs and support for the children moving forward.
