Fierce Fire Rips Through Cobb County Apartment Building

At least one person died and several were hospitalized in critical condition after a fierce fire gutted a building at the Concord Crossing Apartments in Cobb County on Sunday night.

Cobb County Fire Department crews responded to Concord Crossing Apartments on Woodsong Way and found many residents trapped on balconies as flames engulfed the building. Firefighters deployed ladders, rescuing at least six people from the second floor of the burning building.

Child in Cardiac Arrest, Multiple Fatalities Reported

Officials confirmed that one victim, a child, went into cardiac arrest upon transport to a nearby hospital. Authorities also reported "multiple fatalities," but have not yet released a specific number.

Firefighting Efforts Hampered by Freezing Conditions and Strong Winds

Firefighting efforts were made difficult by freezing temperatures and strong winds.

Approximately 30 Residents Displaced

Approximately 30 residents were displaced after the fire. The Red Cross, along with a local church, provided shelter and emergency assistance to the victims.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
