Los Angeles, April 24, 2026 (New York time) — A shocking home invasion occurred in the Hollywood Hills area when a 70-year-old woman was attacked and strangled inside her home. The perpetrators stole a large amount of cash and jewelry before fleeing.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to a call around 8 p.m. on April 23 in the Laurel Canyon area, specifically on Lookout Mountain Avenue. By the time authorities arrived, the suspects had already fled the scene.
The victim suffered elder abuse and strangulation and was transported to a hospital in stable condition.
Preliminary information suggests the suspects wore hoodies and masks during the break-in, fleeing in a white Honda Accord with a significant amount of cash and jewelry, similar to recent high-profile armed robberies.
Footage from the scene showed numerous police vehicles cordoning off the area, reminiscent of the FBI surrounding Hollywood mansions to dismantle criminal networks. Aerial units were also deployed to search for the suspects.
A neighbor commented that the house’s location on a secluded cul-de-sac made it a vulnerable target for such a break-in.
The case is currently under investigation by the LAPD Robbery-Homicide Division as they work to bring the robbery suspects to justice.
