CHRISTIANSBURG, VIRGINIA – A group of white teenagers in Virginia has been cleared by police of racially motivated offenses, after a Virginia Tech professor reported a "hate crime attack" outside his home in Christiansburg.

Professor Reports Racially Motivated Attack

According to a report filed with police on February 10, Onwubiko Agozino, a sociology professor at Virginia Tech, alleged that eight teenagers targeted him due to his race as they drove past his home, playing loud rap music and throwing snow and ice near his residence. He stated that the music contained racially offensive language.

A local activist organization, New River Valley Indivisible, subsequently posted on Facebook on February 11, calling the incident an act intended to "intimidate and terrorize" the professor's family, suggesting it was not merely disruptive behavior but a "hate crime."

Police Conclude No Racial Motivation

However, following an investigation, the Christiansburg Police Department announced on February 12 that no evidence was found to suggest the incident was racially motivated or specifically targeted any individual or home.

According to police, the teenagers were attending a nearby party and were simply clearing snow and ice from the bed of a truck. Authorities affirmed that no shouting, derogatory remarks, or directed attention towards any house in the area was observed.

Professor Questions Investigation Conclusion

In a response to Fox News Digital, Professor Agozino argued that "intent" is not the sole factor constituting a legal violation and questioned the police's investigation conclusion.

He also stated that law enforcement has increased patrols around his home to prevent a recurrence of the incident.

Currently, no criminal charges have been filed in connection with the incident.
