Jacob Van Rootselaar, the brother of the suspect in the deadly Canadian school shooting, has been arrested on a nationwide warrant for conspiracy to commit murder. The arrest occurred less than two weeks after the horrific high school tragedy carried out by his younger brother.
According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Jacob Van Rootselaar, 22, was arrested Friday in Sylvan Lake, Alberta. Authorities stated that the incident is related to an event earlier in 2024 involving the use of a sharp weapon to assault a victim.
Tracking Process and Arrest Warrant
Before the arrest, police had checked Jacob's approved residence in Dawson Creek but did not locate him. After his residential address was changed to the Tumbler Ridge area, a nationwide arrest warrant was officially issued to quickly bring the suspect to justice.
Sergeant Sabrina Clayton of the RCMP stated that she could not yet confirm whether this residence check was directly related to the investigation into the February 10 attack. This incident is considered the second most serious school shooting in Canadian history, leaving immense pain for the country's community and education sector.
